I've just made a fool out of myself. I had my new teeth fitted today, and once they were in place the dentist handed me a mirror. I looked in it, said that's great and handed the mirror back to the dentist who gave me a quizzical look and I wondered why but then forgot about it. When I got home I looked at my teeth in the bathroom mirror, and that's when it dawned on me, that when the dentist gave me the mirror she intended for me to look at my teeth to check if I was happy with them. But the only occasion when I'm ever handed a mirror is when I have my hair cut, so I had unwittingly used the dentist's mirror to check my hair - without opening my mouth. Now I feel so stupid. I could have understood my wife making such a silly mistake, but she would have checked her hair intentionally.
