Howdy! It’s time for another song extolling the virtues of the sun…well, at least with “sun” in the title. Last month I did the moon, and I ignored this guy. Turnabout’s fair play, so I’m using his lesser-known version of this sunny song! I Don’t Care If the Sun Don’t Shine - Elvis Presley This makes up for not using his version of “Blue Moon of Kentucky,” right? Fun fact: this was originally for the 1950 version of Cinderella, but it didn’t make the movie’s final cut. Patti Page recorded it that year and released it as a single, making it her first top ten hit. Needless to say, her version isn’t exactly at this tempo (although it is upbeat). Dean Martin also recorded it, but his version has about the same tempo as “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” (actually, “Kick in the Head” might be a little faster!). I know you’re going to tell me that you’ve never heard Elvis do this. I know. This was the B-side of “Good Rocking Tonight,” which was Elvis’ second single for Sun in 1954. This may get played on Elvis’ SiriusXM channel, but nowhere else. But it’s Elvis! So enjoy! I Don’t Care If the Sun Don’t Shine Written by Mack David Recorded by Elvis Presley Released as a single, 1954 I get going when the sun goes down:

@porwest — it was his second-ever single. And it’s still better than “Yoga Is As Yoga Does.”

Not the best Elvis, but he's Elvis, so I won't dis this less than desirable song, other than to say I don't care if I never hear it again. Shoot...that's a dis anyway, isn't it?

@FourWalls Right. By the way, in August I will be at Graceland. Been there once before so this will be the second time. Hopefully they don't play this song. lol

@Ineeddentures — I did indeed! I used the 1941 Wiley & Gene version, not Elvis’ rendition.
