We were glad to know that a newly married couple was going to host their wedding reception dinner in our yard. They wanted to include us , our children and staff in the dinner. Having such a dinner during monsoon season is difficult because it rains heavily here and a rainfall can spoil a program like this. And so the organisers erected a tent on the yard. The food was cooked under the shed outside our kitchen . The bride is a professor in the college of our town. She is in her forties. It might be considered rather late for marriage in the Hindu Bengali society . But, it's normal for a woman who was persuing a career as a college professor. It was so good of the couple to share their wedding dinner with us. Our children of the foster home were greatly excited and happy to be part of the reception dinner. On the other hand, it was a frugal idea. If the reception dinner had been arranged it would have cost them lot lot more. Only close friends had been invited to the reception. The guests were not more than twenty in number. There was no music or dj noise. No crowd jostling to occupy chairs at the dinner tables. Everything went through peacefully. Guests went back by 10:30 PM and we managed to send the children to bed soon after. It was an enjoyable evening for us all.

You have a large yard? I'm glad they decided on that. I believe that small weddings are better, not only on coat but the privacy

That sounds a very sensible way to organise a wedding. I'm glad it all went well. I guess the children were a bit too excited to go to sleep easily.

It sounds like it turned out pretty nice. I remember ours was simple, I didn't want complicated as I don't have the patience for all of that lol.

Glad it turned out well. I can imagine just how it could have been ruined by really very heavy rain
