I enjoy walking around random places

Sometimes I will head over to a place I have never been to and just walk around to explore. This can lead to interesting and entertaining discoveries. I've found cool stores, restaurants, and events occurring. Does anyone else like to explore new areas on foot?

Before high gas prices, my daughter and I would pick a place on a map and drive there just to check the place out. We'd walk around the area, talking with whoever was there and see what we could find... (A lot of the time my daughter was convinced I knew people everywhere we went because I'd just strike up conversations. That was always fun for me!)

@programmerprimo It really is a lot of fun... I was really shy in school but forced myself to be more outgoing... I've always gotten jobs in customer service, so had to become outgoing to make my living. Thanks.

I like to do this too, only I explore in nature. I have taken many road trips in the US and Canada just to explore in National Parks or State lands. Pack in your tent with food for a couple of days. It's amazing to be in places where people rarely step. The wildlife, the hunting for treasures like precious stones or gold or objects lost or discarded years before. I live next to the Olympic National Park and there are trails and camping spots everywhere you look. You can hike near a glacier, walk through a rainforest, stop at the hot springs and walk along Pacific Ocean beaches... all in the same Day. I guess I prefer nature over crowds.

I can see that. When I am walking I try to avoid people, but if I do see a big crowd in one area it will likely make me curious as to what is going on.

@programmerprimo I'm 63 now. I have seen my share of people. I used to love being around people but people ruined that for me.
