After must internal debate I have at last selected a cottage in county Cork as a fitting venue to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our 41st wedding anniversary.
It’s near the small town in which my wife’s mother was born, Clonakilty, on the bottom edge of Ireland, over 300 miles from where we live.
Because of the distance we’ll be stopping off for the night just west of Dublin on the way there. It’s doable in one day, but we’re in no hurry, then to get home we’ll come up the west coast and stop a night in Sligo or some such town.
This is all to take place in the first week in September when mercifully schools will have started. I’m looking forward to it, and especially to not having to fly in a plane to get there. No more planes for me till winter thankfully.
Tomorrow I fly however, to Manchester, and really I’d rather just walk.
Does the prospect of having to fly spoil your trips?

That sounds like a lovely trip for your wife's birthday and your anniversary. I am afraid to fly anymore.

@lindaohio I dislike it but I’ve got family all over the place. Am in Belfast airport right now. Fog bound.

I don't think so. I love planes, they make our trip to province very easy and quick.

Happy anniversary to you both
And happy birthday to your wife
Sounds like a nice choice of location to go to celebrate.
Flying, not sure now.
I don't want to fly if I can ride.
Manchester at least is not a long flight
