Newer Generations Say These Older Generations Rules Are Outdated

I've really been interested lately in what each of the multiple generations thinks of the other. Turns out, Gen Z hates everybody older than them and thinks we're all stupid. Take these classic "Baby Boomer" rules that they say are outdated. I think they still make perfect sense. What do you think? Stick with one job for as long as possible Well it makes sense if you like the job and can advance in it or draw a pension at the end. The newer generations change jobs like they change underwear. Buy a house as soon as you can If you're renting you're just throwing money away, right? Sure prices and interest rates are different than 30 years ago, but it's still sound advice. Always be polite—even if someone’s rude to you Good manners will get you further in every situation than bristling up. Don’t air your dirty laundry in public Social media was made for these younger generations who want to express things in writing in public venues rather than have real genuine conversations with people. You shouldn't tell everybody the bad stuff going on in your house. [Dress for the job you want This generation's workforce doesn't know what it means to look professional. It's all very casual. What do you feel about these "Baby Boomer" rules? Are they outdated?

@looeyville I have little confidence in bank staff with pierced lips, green hair and torn jeans. Nor in people who are indiscreet on line and on the phone in public.

Just now
Pensions are relics of the past. I say be free to move about the cabin and jump around a bit. If you take care of your finances, save and invest, staying put in a job (unless you really like it) is pointless. Most companies don't care about you anyway, so it's best to move on when the time is right lest risk them moving on from you at some point and leaving you holding the bag. I agree, ownership is always better than renting, and the sooner you build equity, the better. Nope. You give what you get, and if what you get is someone who is rude, you let them have it. lol I agree that private is private. Some people give up way too much information these days. I may have intimate conversations with certain people, of course. But that's hardly on public display and I am careful not to have those conversations with someone who might "go public" with the information. Proper attire is still important, I think. Yes. Dress appropriately.

I was at the very end of the Boomer generation. I say there are some sound rules established by that group but they got most of those rules from the greatest generation before them. We are slowly sliding as a people. The younger generations are eroding away all the important things we lived by. These kids talk about how great their technology is compared to what we lived with. I just say, I know. My generation invented them.

For me, they're not outdated. We do observe them here even the younger ones.

But a house as soon as you can is one bit of advice that is hard to give now People in their 40,s still loving with parents because they cannot get a house because of the cost of getting on the housing ladder Always be polite, not sure lol
