There were traditions of having high beds in royal palaces

The major rooms of the royal palaces are converted into museums. The bed rooms are very unique. In those days there were traditions of kings queens sleeping on high beds. There were stairs to ride on the bed. there were separate beds for children.

I wonder if there was a reason for the high beds.

Good to see historical things from one's own eyes. It makes one feel closer to historical places and events.

@sathviksouvik Yes and I recently saw Forts made under Shivaji Maharaj's patronage. They are massive, very strong and built in just a few years! Absolutely amazing! Perhaps people were stronger then, more dedicated, less corrupt and had lesser distractions!

That's interesting. I liked the video because it showed the actual height. I have read that some Monarchs had two bed rooms. One ornate and extravagant for public viewing and another attached room where they actually slept. Since most of a Monarchs life was public, elaborate displays were put on for literally everything. In the case of sleeping it was said one room was for the King and the other was for the man.

That is quite inconvenient. Any reason they slept on high beds. Or, just a tradition?
