I had a wonderful time in Manchester airport today as I occupied the chair of fashion judgement, casting aspersions on the travelling attire some folk deemed appropriate to step out in. I will be the first to concede that I am not the most sartorially eloquent person to grace this earth so I have no place judging, mocking and ridiculing, but really, some folk are just asking for it. The judgements that escaped my lips, much to my wife’s disapproval, included: Are there no mirrors in your house dear? Imagine going out in that! What were you thinking? Yes, your bum does look enormous in that. Goodness, and to think we fought the war so that he’d be free to wear that outfit. I wonder if she’s bound for a ball or a bath? She’s going to catch pneumonia wearing that. Of course my comments never reached the ears of my targets. But do you ever wonder about the clothes some folk chose to appear in?

Usually, unless someone is barely wearing anything, or their clothes are so tight they look breathless, I don’t think much of it. But when I see the things I just mentioned, I do start to wonder what was going through their minds.

We used to tease our friend by saying 'Are you going out like that?' but it would put her in a panic so we had to stop doing it.

Sometimes the color combination of wearing a light colored shirt and dark colored pants look odd.
