There are many different types of marigolds both in colour and size. They are all easy to grow under right conditions.
I have grown marigolds in my garden both big and small and different colours but have to yet to see a gian African marigold growing in my garden
The main reason is that though they classify them as African marigold the seeds when sown turn out to be just the ordinary size and colour
One day I hope to

I don't think I've ever been successful with marigolds. My aunt even sent up seeds from her garden for me to try, there was a purple one I was excited to try but it never came up.

@allknowing I suppose it's the smell, it's true that it's not pleasant.
