Do you get nods of friendliness?

Every culture or country has its own typical gestures. Some use hand gestures profusely, some less. Some shake their head right and left or up and down. In our area a particular way of waving the head is quite common. It's not up and down or right and left. It's waving the head in an angular way. It's a gesture of greeting and acknowledgement . It's kind of saying " hi " in a physical way. However, you wouldn't give it to an unknown person and you less likely to receive it from someone unknown to you or someone who is not in your friendship circle.
Yesterday, when I went to bring rice from government ration dealer I received many nods. Some of them were from known persons but some nods were from unknown passers by.
I nod my head in reply to all. Not doing it would be impolite.
I return home feeling glad . I am not a celebrity neither am I any influential person occupying any important chair.Yet I am found worthy of friendly nods. Isn't it that a blessing?

It's nice to be acknowledged by people. In my area, many will say hello as they pass whether they know you or not.

That's a cool way of looking at it. Here in eastern NC, everyone smiles and says hi or hey. In the car most people will wave since it's probably a neighbor or relative!
