Aviation attorney Mary Schiavo has credible input in the Air India plane crash

Mary Schiavo who is a former US Department of Transportation Inspector General has some key inputs in the recent Air India crash investigation. This "Boeing Dreamliner has a system capable of cutting fuel to the engines on its own". That's not all. This type of fuel cut has happened twice. She also feels that it'd be too premature to blame the pilots for this crash. She also pointed to past incidents that involved the Boeing 787s. According to her, there are software-triggered engine issues. This has the potential to cut the systems that can cut fuel flow mid-air. She thinks these issues should be examined minutely before we draw any conclusions.

Inthonk we should listen to the Indian expert who was on the telly the other night And explore further the mental health issues that one of the pilots had. I reckon he did it. Killed them all on purposes

What are you saying That's a bold statement. I just replied exactly the opposite to @JudyEv -. Judy Evans.

@abhi_bangal Ok The fuel tap controls did not get into the position they did by themselves. The expert said they had to be moved manually. So One of the pilots did it On purpose, maybe Accidentally, well must have been brain fog Throw into the mix the mental health issues, And it is possible that the guy might just have not been in control and did it Maybe the other one did it on purpose

@Ineeddentures What I heard in one of the updates was one pilot asking the other, why did you cut fuel supply. The second one replied, I didn't do it.

@abhi_bangal I read that if Pilots are blamed, Insurance money is easy to obtain. I doubt the fairness from Boeing and Air India's side. Plus US and Indian aviation officials could try to "sort out" things ! I know what I am saying sounds bad and even rude but I suspect this could be the flow of things.

@JudyEv Yeah. Blame can easily be passed from one to the other. And responsibility is one thing that won't rest anywhere.

Exactly. And hope they stop blaming the pilots. Poor guys become the scapegoats everytime, which is a bad thing.

The two pilots were quite experienced. It seems very less likely that they did something wrong intentionally or out of confusion. I believe that it was a system malfunction. I wonder why only some part of the report was released? Also, I have learnt that a lot of US media has directly pinpointed the Pilots as being at fault although only preliminary and partial report has been released. Could the Investigating agencies be under pressure from Boeing and US Government. And if the US Government and Boeing are exerting pressure on India, the Indian Government should not budge. And well, if the authorities on Indian side and Air India are in collusion, then what can one say! All in all, I suspect if the Investigation would be truly unbiased and impartial and fair? Only time will tell in this regard.

@abhi_bangal It depends upon a number of factors. While Opposition might be raising a number of issues in the parliament, would they also raise this issue. I also read that Air India has been pulled up in some audits for fact hiding and lack of proper Maintenance overall. My take is that Air India or for that matter no other Flight Carrier like Indigo, Spicejet etc should take up more flights than can be managed and nor over exploit the pilots or other staff.

As I had said, pilots can easily be blamed for the accidents. And nothing mentions anything about their role so far even in the primary report. As of now, it's impossible to say what the END outcome will be. Anything can come out - even the unexpected things.
