Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves…. Have you ever heard that saying before ? Basically if you are good and responsible with your money and look after and save your pennies you will eventually have pounds …. It’s true, it’s amazing when you start saving money , just how quickly the savings do mount up. So, I was wondering …is there anything you do to save money ….?

@traceyjayne I try to stick as much as possible away in savings each month without making life miserable. They really ought to teach this sort of thing at school. Maybe they do - I just wasn't there that day!!

I don’t think they do teach it in school but I think they should …. That’s just given me an idea for my next post ….

@Traceyjayne I know saving money isn't a priority for school kids, but at least some financial wisdom might stick with some of them. Nothing hifalutin - just common sense budgeting, savings accounts, and a dose of reality.

I use a different saying. "It's the pennies, stupid." MOST people don't mind the pennies and have no idea how much this kills them. How many times do you hear someone say, "It's only five cents more?" All the time. Say that 100 times and they're out $5. Pennies matter more than the dollars do, and if you aren't minding the pennies, you'll never have the dollars. Plain and simple.

Absolutely. These days when we are shopping and say your bill is £10.15, they will ask , “ do you want to round it up ? ‘….the extra goes to charity. If you say yes in all the shops you go to you could be paying out an extra £5 a day ….without really noticing ! It all mounts up.

@Traceyjayne That's a big one. I even posted about that here recently. People really don't realize how fast pennies add up over time.
