Police in Michigan rescue a blue heron who was entangled in a fishing line

Oakland County Sheriff's Office's Search and Rescue Team answered an emergency call from a concerned citizen on Sunday night June 15 when a blue heron was entangled with a fishing line at Lake Louise in Brandon Township.
Search and Rescue Team member Lieutenant Brian Burwell with the help of some Oakland County Animal Control officers dove inro the lake and they were able to use a towel over the heron's head while they cut the fishing line from the heron's wing to see it free that same evening after the heron was given a clean bill of health.

Discarded fishing lines can cause a problem for a lot of animals who get tangled up in them. It was good this story had a good ending, and the heron was freed.

I am so glad they were able to rescue the blue heron. We get a blue heron up here once and a while.

Why is there a fishing line unattended at the lake? Somebody has left there purposedly. Is the lake often visited by herons?
