Weather for today

Just when I thought the crisis from the typhoon was over, the rains kept coming. Turns out, it’s not the typhoon anymore—but the southwest monsoon (habagat) that’s still causing heavy downpours over Metro Manila and nearby provinces. PAGASA even issued a red rainfall warning for Metro Manila, Bataan, and Cavite, with up to 200 mm of rain expected. Some areas like Valenzuela, Malabon, and parts of QC are already experiencing chest- to waist-deep flooding. Main roads like España, Taft, and parts of EDSA are flooded again, and schools and offices have suspended operations today. It’s tough seeing the city still under water. Stay dry and safe, everyone!

I hope that the situation improves there. Even we are having rainy weather with no sun in the last ten days. No sunshine. It's damp and depressing. Schools have moved to online classes. Many places are flooded.

What happens in your place seems to mirror what’s happening here. I do hope for brighter days ahead. However, the weather bureau has announced that a new storm has formed and is slowly approaching us, so I’m not sure if those hopes will come true anytime soon.

@arunima25 For the first time in the early mornings, weather alerts were sent to my phone. Today, it didn't, which I believe is a good sign. Around 11 a.m., I noticed the sun's rays peek through my terrace. It felt different because I hadn't seen it the entire week.

How awful for those surrounded by water in low lying areas. There has been some dreadful weather throughout the world. Massive floods in the USA, Spain. Tokyo had an awful storm with flooding & South Korea. I hope you & your family remain safe.

I also heard about it. In addition to the heavy rainfall in some places, I believe that global warming is truly being felt everywhere. We are experiencing this rain because our summer season just ended. Although we are accustomed to typhoons, their frequency and intensity have significantly increased recently, making them more difficult to experience each time.

@garymarsh6 Yes, they are currently experiencing summer. I never imagine that temperature would be that high. The rainy season is currently upon us. Typhoons are hitting us here and there because of this. That temperature range is fairly typical for our summer; the highest recorded temperature was 48°C. We are advised to stay indoors to prevent heatstroke.

@rsa101 The heat & humidity was awful in Japan one day it was 44C I was dying in the heat. I don't miond dry heat it is the humidity that wipes me out. We have had a few heatwaves here too recently I am most comfortable at around 26C. Last year we had 2 days of 40C+ in England which was unbearable & not the norm.

Actually in the weekend Typhoon Wipha passed by here and luckily it didn't give us a terrible effect. The rains were even not so serious. I even feel weird as the weather forcast had warned us to prepare for it well and not go go out if it's not necessary. And tonight I also heard there would be two typhoons coming here. I think these typhoons arrive in your country at first and then attack us. I hope the typhoons won't bring big damages in your country. It seems this year the typhoons occur so often.

True these two typhoons is in the sea right now the forecast is that it may go straight at you and not land in ours. But the effect of it is it would pull a lot of rain from tge monsoon which will hit us in the xoming days.

@youless One has already formed in our area, but it has not made landfall yet. According to forecasts, they will travel north, possibly to Japan, Taiwan, or mainland China. The other is still far away, and we don't know whether it will strengthen or weaken over time.

@rsa101 I think these two typhoons are forming. I am not sure whether it will attack to my city directly. Perhaps it will be like usual and it'll turn to another direction again.

I am staying dry, we had rain yesterday for 10 minutes and that's it. I cannot complain I guess. At least we have a bit of rain but deep down, I am hoping that we can have more.

@rsa101 At times, it is more sun than rain these days. At least for this year.

I highly doubt that will happen anytime soon, especially since the weather forecast is practically gleeful about even more rain arriving tomorrow. With the monsoon rains creeping closer to our area like an uninvited guest that just won’t leave, it seems we’re in for a soggy encore with no intermission in sight.

@jstory07 I'm fortunate that my place is in an area where heavy rains like this don't easily lead to flooding. I think our location is higher than the surrounding areas nearby. Staying indoors feels like the safest choice in this kind of weather.

The weather bureau confirmed that the LPA is now a storm and it is named Dante. But you are right because the rain from yesterday up to today is brought about the southwest monsoon

That is true, so brighter days ahead seem bleak.

Likewise, here, classes are suspended, and even government offices are closed. Today it's still raining cats and dogs. I hope it stops. Meanwhile, the baby and her parents went to pay the water bill to avoid disconnection, so I can now be in the Arms of Morpheus. ZZZZZZZZZ.

I thought it had stopped early this morning because it was so quiet, but there was no sun. However, the rains resumed a few hours later and stopped shortly after lunch. I'm not sure if it will stay this way or if more rain will fall. Hopefully, these long rain breaks will continue, and the skies will clear up already.

We all are safely tucked in our place. My wife stayed home, and my son just got back from work too, so we're all safe and sound in our home for the day.

It’s a lot for everyone... emotionally and physically especially for those who were already hit hard by the typhoon. Hopefully the local governments and rescue teams are keeping pace with relief efforts and evacuation if needed.

I rely solely on news updates, so I am uncertain if our local government units are effectively conducting rescue operations in the severely affected areas. Fortunately, I am situated in an elevated location where flooding is not a significant concern.
