Ozzy.

I’ve tried several times to write a post in memory of the great Ozzy Osbourne, but I just can’t seem to find the right words. How do you sum up someone like him? Ozzy wasn’t just a music icon—he was a force of nature. He changed the landscape of rock and metal forever, but more than that, he became part of pop culture history. A lot of people around my age probably first got to know Ozzy through MTV’s The Osbournes. If you watched that show, you know he was more than just the Prince of Darkness. He was a devoted father, a surprisingly down-to-earth husband, and—let’s be real—absolutely hilarious. That show gave us a glimpse behind the curtain, and it made many of us love him even more. Most people who know me would say I’m the one who listens to country music—and they wouldn’t be wrong. But what might surprise them is that no artist from any genre has ever meant quite as much to me as Ozzy did. I’ve always loved a wide range of music, but my love for Ozzy goes way beyond just the songs. His music has been the soundtrack to so many chapters of my life. Ozzy gave so much to the world of music. Just think about how many movies and shows have featured “Crazy Train,” “War Pigs,” or countless other songs—whether from his solo career or with Black Sabbath. He wasn’t just a rock star. He was a giant. A trailblazer. A pioneer. People call Michael Jackson the King of Pop, and Elvis the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll—but honestly? I’d argue Ozzy was the real king. Call it a hot take if you want, but that’s how I feel. Even saying “Rest in Peace” feels strange… because this was the Prince of Darkness we’re talking about. But after all the physical and mental struggles he’s faced these past few years, I truly hope he’s at peace now. I hope he knew how much he meant to so many of us. His impact is immeasurable. Saying he’ll be missed feels like an understatement. I don’t think I’ve ever been this affected by a celebrity death before. The world feels a little darker without Ozzy in it—but his music, his legacy, and his spirit will live on forever. Long live the Prince. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCCiwPEdEpg&list=RDLCCiwPEdEpg&start_radio=1

Ozzy was someone I grew up knowing well through the 80s and I always found him to be a fascinating character, even long before there was a TV show depicting his very "normal" life. We sometimes forget that under all the facades and schtick, even the darkest of rockers are still just people. There will only ever be one Ozzy, that's for sure, and he will be greatly missed.

If you enjoyed his music, I highly sugges you look up Yungblood and his covers. He's so good, and even Ozzy said that watching him perform was like looking in the mirror.
