My mom prepared a special lunch today because it's my brother's birthday. He has been staying at our grandmother's house for more than six years and luckily, we got to celebrate his special day together there.
The lunch menu today - sweet pongal, white rice, carrot and mango sambhar, banana flower parruppu usli, and some boiled peanuts. It was of course a treat to our taste buds. We haven't planned much for the evening yet, will see as it goes.
This is how we celebrate birthdays in a simple yet satisfying way.
How do you usually celebrate your birthdays or special days?
Thank you and have a great day.

Our way of celebrating a birthday is buying a birthday cake. We invite a few close 4 to 5 families, who also invite us on their special occasions. In all, we are 22 to 25 people. We order something from restaurant or hotel and we have a gala time in the evening.

@Teekaaa Yes. It feels a bit odd too
especially when we are in the center of things. Everyone is looking at us, clapping for us, singing the birthday song...

I celebrate my birthdays simple and quiet as always. My mom always buy fast food like chicken sandwich and fries for the family. I always wish a healthy dish for my birthday and then I eat my healthy food.

@Teekaaa I prefer to eat right if my parents have food that they love.

My birthday is next month, l have no living parents now so i rely on my wife and son to celebrate this with. I do not really enjoy grand parties. A simple dinner with my family is enough. I guess my introvertness shows when birthdays are coming.

Not much happenings during birthdays. Usually we'd just eat out and buy something for myself. Happy Birthday to your brother.
