a weird call from friend whom i haven't met for long time.

I had a university classmate,after graduation,we kept contact ten years.During ten years,we gathered from time to time,ate meal,climbed mountain,etc.However we lost contact since 2015,exactly,he cut off contact since 2015,he changed phone number without my knowledge,every time i sent message to him on Wechat, he never reply.Thus we haven't contacted for 10years.I kept phone number all the time.Yesterday he unexpectedly called me,he said he have gone to another remote city since 2015,and chat with me 30mins,at last,he disclosed real intention that he asked me lend 50000 RMB.Gosh,I don't know what happended to him,but 50000 is a big money,For sure i don't have so much money.I requested him return to this city,i feel like he was living a miserable life at a strange place,but he refused and hang up.I was worrying but can do nothing,hope he stay safe without troubles.

@allknowing ,not necessarily financial help,if he was in danger,i can help call policeman,or do sth else to help him,not every help is about money.

I understand this is a hard decision but it's better not to lend him money. Probably he can't borrow money from anybody and then finally think of you. As you said, both of you lost contact for such a long time but somehow he called you to borrow a big amount of money. This doesn't sound nice.

@jefferson126 I think at least he should explain why he needs this money. He can't expect to borrow such a big money from a friend who hasn't contacted for many years.

I told him i didn't have so much money lend to him,then he was disappointed.Don't know whether he borrowed money from other classmates.Anyway I felt he wasn't in good state,hope he can become normal shortly.

@jefferson126 Don't send any money till you see the person physically. If the person called you to ask you if you reach the location, say no. If he is the person, he will be able to spot you without a problem.

Maybe it is,Now there are many scams form like that.Or someone said he is suffering sickness or hardship,need money solve problems.But in fact,those are totally lies.

That's a shame he is having money troubles now. I hope things work out for him but I wouldn't loan anyone money if they haven't talked with me in more than 10 years...

his request for money is sudden,maybe he really suffer difficulty now,but i don't have enough money to help him.On the other hand,we haven't met 10years,i am not sure if he changed.
