They all live with us! (2)

Let me resume from where I left yesterday. One can see many other creatures living around us. This time of the year we find many crawlers outside our house. They move on many tiny legs. I wouldn't call them centipedes or millipedes. These are smaller, more like worms but birds don't feed on them. They sometimes crawl onto our verandah. Our verandah is a favourite place for little frogs as well. When we are not looking they hop in and hide in corners under the staircase or bathrooms. Lizards are our co-dwellers all the year round. During the day they become invisible but as evening drops and lights are on they come to feast on the insects. Friends, some readers may develop stomach wrench reading all this but we have got used to sharing the space with them.

I don't really like to share our house with anything that is not human although spiders have their use. In Mauritius there were little lizards that eat mossies so that is a good thing.

Those with many tiny legs I known what you meant. They have a name for them but I just cannot recall what they are.

I love how you describe all of these little cohabitants—it's as if your house has its own mini ecosystem! I understand that some people may cringe at the prospect, but honestly, once you've lived with them long enough, they just blend in. Those tiny crawlers sound mysterious, and the frogs sneaking into corners made me smile. And the lizards are the unofficial pest control team! Nature really does find a way to integrate with us.

I do not like sharing my house with animals, no matter how little or helpful they are. Americans have screen wire over our windows and doors to help keep bugs and animals out!
