Went to Walmart the one I used to go to thinking maybe they might have what the other didn't have. Well...not only did they not have my Dark Choc Chips, they did not have my Cheetos I like either, and I was going to get 2 Sweet Potatoes OR 2 Baking Potatoes, but there were only about 7 Baking potatoes, but they were wrinkled up and had rotten spaces on them. The Sweet Potatoes were the same..either too small, or big enough, but wrinkled and badly bruised.
As I was leaving, I stopped at the Customer Service desk and asked if I could please speak to a manager that Orders Groceries. She pointed to 4 men standing at the entrance, and one guy asked me what he could do for me. I explained that this is not the 1st time all the Walmarts were out of Hershey Dark Choc Chips.. He looked it up on his handy dandy hand held computer, and he tells me they are expecting a shipment on Aug. 16th. About 22 days from now. He showed me how the chips were slow moving. Funny how they have plenty of Tollhouse in stock and other brands, but not the Hershey...How can the Hershey not sell good, when they are out of stock, and everything else is still there? Just asking. LOL
Then I asked him about my Street Corn Cheetos, and he had no answers for me. I will be calling the Cheeto main office Monday.
I went to Publix across the street and found Dark Chocollate dipped pretzels, and 2 Nice Sweet Potatoes..Both were expensive, but by that time I didn't care!
We had Ribeye steaks, Sweet Potatoe and garlic bread for supper.

Lays and Hershey are all made in America so no tarrifs..no international shipping..except the cocoa beans.

Which Walmart was that? Because there's definitely a good one in Panama City. Lol we get 90 percent of our groceries delivered.

According to their website NONE of the Walmarts in Bay Co have Hershey Dark Chocolate Chips. Even the manager could only find like 5 left at Walmart in Santa Rosa. Their website even lets you check Santa Rosa and Destin.

It is annoying when you can’t get items that you need or buy regularly. You got a better response at your customer service desk than I usually get. Here I am usually just fobbed off with any old rubbish as a reason for no stock. The usual ….” We don’t know what we are going to be sent “ ….as everything is on the computer they should know exactly how many of each item they sell and how many they need to restock ….its not difficult to work out. There’s no point sending items that don’t sell well whilst people are asking for items that have sold out ……

Believe it or not those little tablets they carry around are not always right. A friend likes something called Garden Medley. Green Giant and Great Value make it. For 2-3 weeks they were out of it from Both brands. She saw a person stocking the frozen food section and asked him when they might be getting some. He checked his tablet and it said they had 4 bags of the Green Giant. He went to the back of the store to check since there were none in the section. He came back and told her there was none back in the back as well. So he made sure he typed in they were out of that item. My guess...is someone took what they had in their cart...went to the self checkout, and walked out the door without paying for them. I know they have people standing there checking, but you can't catch everyone. Two people could be working together, and make the person watching come and check them while their partner bags stuff that they didn't check out. Seems to me, that you would have to watch every person to prevent people from stealing. That would cost more than just having cashiers...IMO.

A shortage of cocoa beans, rising prices on chocolate. It doesn't look good. Walmart has chocolate oranges for $12. They used to be $5.

The Manager told me the baking chips in general were not selling..why spend a bunch of money on ingredients when you can buy good baked goods already made? I agree with him, but I do not need the chips for baking..I use them in my Oatmeal at Breakfast, and as a dessert just plain..not cooked in anything. I measure out 2 tbspns 3 times a day..sometimes 4 times if I don't eat very many carbs during the day.

It's not just Walmart. There is a world wide chocolate shortage they have been warning of for some time, which has worsened. Bad crops, or no crops, etc. it is expected to be extremely high in price, unfortunately. I know we have not seen dark chocolate chips here for some time. The manager of the grocery store near my house told me they order them constantly, but they do not arrive. And if he does receive them, they are gone within hours. I hope you find some. If you do and you have freezer room, they will freeze well.

I like them for making cookies for my sons. I don't bake them that often, they consider them a treat. If you can't find them for sale in stores, maybe online you can. But it's hot, and chocolate chips sitting in a delivery truck in the heat may not arrive in good condition, not in the summertime.

I intend to buy a case of them next month. Seems to be a LOT of Chocolate candy everywhere. They need to save some of that chocolate on those candy bars and make Chips LOL.
