Good day to you all.
On Tuesday July 22nd we lost a legend. John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne died at the age of 76.
I could tell you all the things most people know like he co-founded the band Black Sabbath and went on to have a long and great solo career but that’s simple enough, I would rather share a few things about why I was a huge fan.
First, Black Sabbath was just different then anything I heard as a kid and I just connected with it, and felt it went against everything the people around me were listening to. I remember listening to it all the time. In class at school on my Walkman and getting in trouble for it. Good times and bad Ozzy was playing in the background.
I had the chance to see Ozzy six times in concert, and now I wish I seen him more.
1984 Bark at the Moon tour at Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, IL. My first time seeing him, we had like 20th row or something and I remember my cousin and I went to see it and had a great time.
1986 Ultimate Sin tour at UIC Pavilion, Chicago, IL. This was the first time I shook his hand and got his autograph. What an amazing experience, meeting him and 2nd row seats were awesome.
1986 Ultimate Sin tour at Mecca Arena, Milwaukee, WI. This was the day after the Chicago show and was just as good, the same energy from the band and crowd.
1989 No Rest for the Wicked tour at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO. The show was amazing in the open air just had a different feeling.
1992 No More Tours tour at Alpine Valley Music Theater, East Troy, WI. So close to home we had to go since it’s going to be the last of his tours.
1992 No More Tours tour at World Music Theater, Tinley Park, IL. Less than a two-hour drive and he’s not going to tour ever again, we must go.
Little did we know at the time he would tour more and put out more great music in the years to come.
If I had to pick a song I liked most, I would be forced to pick two, one from his days with Black Sabbath and one from his solo songs.
Black Sabbath – A National Acrobat, the sound of that song is just great and a line that stuck in my head all these years…”Just remember love is life and hate is living death”
Ozzy – You’re No Different, the song is a little slower than the typical song from Ozzy but just as good in my eyes. My favorite line from the song..” Living my life in a way that I choose, you say I should apologize Is that envy in your eyes reflecting jealousy?”
Thank you, Ozzy, for a lifetime of awesome music.
yes there were tears while writing this up

I was shocked to learn that Ozzy Osbourne passed away at age 86. He will be missed beyond words.
