I remember the day her mother and I went with her to admit her in the medical college 300 km far from home. She found it so difficult to stay in the hostel that she returned home after two weeks. However, we went again with her to the hostel assuring her that she would feel better as time passes. She stayed on facing all odds. Four and a half years have passed since then. She has successfully passed the final MBBS exams and now she is an intern in the hospital attached to the college.
In the last two months she has been through distant rural assignments and tough admission day emergencies and gruelling night shifts. She has seen cases of poisoning, burns, road accidents injuries , snake bites and the shock of all shocks, deaths.
From her words over the phone to us we can sense the huge transformation that has come over the tender child we used to know. Of course with age everyone changes but this huge transformation sometimes looks frightening.
At the same time, I am glad that this child is now ready to take up a responsibility and face challenges of her life .

You've raised her right. My hats off to you and congratulations!
She is a competent professional to be added to our roster of skilled doctors. She has matured mentally and professionally, hence, these reflect in her persona.
I know you're so proud of her.

That's wonderful that your daughter is now an intern. I know young doctors have a very difficult first few years. I don't know why their superiors make it so hard for them with such long shifts. Congratulations to her and to you and your wife. You should all be very proud.
