We took the Grandkids to the park after the trampoline park…..there were a few rides and lots of equipment for them to climb on. Luckily the weather was great and they had a lovely time. Going to the park is a free activity and I do wish that more people would use this facility. What have you been doing today ? Are there any free activities where you live ?

I was sleeping but woke up about half an hour ago... I'll go back to reading my latest book when I catch up on myLot. Not a lot of people use the parks around here anymore. Kids just aren't interested. I think most of them are playing video games online anymore.

Ours are the same with their games and phones ……we have a rule about them not being on them all the time. It’s something I feel passionately about …..they need other skills ….

@Traceyjayne I wonder how long they'll pay attention to your rule about not being on their phones all the time? Most parents run into problems trying to stop their kids from doing that. I'm lucky there wasn't much Pretty wanted to do with a phone when she was growing up... I can barely get her to answer her own calls even now. She hates talking on the phone and keeps telling people/businesses MY phone number so she doesn't have to talk to them... (I've started telling callers that they have the wrong number and give them hers to call. If she wants them to contact her, she has to learn that I'm not her answering service.)

@DaddyEvil they know we have expectations ……definitely never when eating, at home or eating out. We plan activities away from using the phone so they get put away. Or they get left at home when we are going out. They are pretty good….they know the rules …..

A little more than a year ago, I was visiting my grandson. We spent time at several parks and playgrounds along with the pool. I was saddened to see that rather than running and playing on equipment, or jumping into the pool all afternoon, almost every kid was sitting down on chairs or benches, eyes glued to their phones. I think people are so distracted by their phones, they will end up getting hurt or hurting others. Okay, rant over. There are many free activities near me. Parks and playgrounds, forests, mountains, oceans, rainforest, hot springs and there are several flea markets and swap meets and a street fair that goes on every weekend through the summer.

Yes, I rant about children being on their phones so much ….it is just wrong on so many levels. You do have a lot of free activities near you….the street fair sound good.

Sounds good. I am off to work. But I may visit the pool later if it warms up.
