Mount Everest is supposed to be the highest but I think the garbage dump one sees in the Himalayas will soon take over What I notice is those who go up there dump garbage there but wonder if there is any cleaning system at all there. If yes, then why is the garbag still there. I had visited Jung Frau Alps in Switzerland and there not only there is a post office but a set up for people to relax, buy things and surely a system to clean the place.

Many Himalayan regions lack proper waste treatment facilities, landfills, recycling centers, and incinerators. Switzerland has everything they need to get rid of garbage.

When up there in Jung frau I never felt we were up there in the Alps. The facilities were unbelievable - rest rooms, cafes the works.

@LadyDuck Our five days in Switzerland were the best. Everything so clean I liked those roads that were skirted with yellow flowers in Zurich. Who can forget the Lucerne lake!!!

It would be unfortunate if those were not addressed soon. I suppose the problem will always exist wherever humans are present. And it will be up to us humans to act on it; otherwise, Mother Nature will take drastic measures if left unchecked..

@allknowing The problem with land-connected borders is that it's hard to determine who should take the first step. I believe it should be a joint effort since we humans are responsible for it, but of course, politics will overshadow everything.

@allknowing It would happen if there were tough sanctions in place for those who blight our beautiful landscapes with their rubbish and litter
