A certain acting mayor challenged the chief of police to a fist fight, questioning his promotion. The chief accepted the challenge and decided to donate the proceeds of the tickets to the flood victims.
To make the story short, the acting mayor was a no-show at the arranged charity boxing event at Rizal Memorial Coliseum in July 2025.
As a result, the chief was declared the winner by default after a 10-count, while the acting mayor was absent and later reported to have travelled to Singapore.
By the way, they were able to raise about 15 million pesos.

I'm glad they were able to raise some money for the flood victims.

Now that’s one for the books! I heard about that boxing challenge—what a mix of politics, drama, and charity rolled into one event. Too bad the acting mayor backed out at the last minute; it could’ve been a rare chance to see public officials step up in a different (and unexpected) way. At least the chief still managed to use the moment to help the flood victims, which is what really counts in the end.
