What's for din? July 28th, 2025

Tonight’s dinner was a bit of a culinary mash-up with some... improvisation. I made InnovAsian Orange Chicken—well, technically InnovAsian did most of the work, I just introduced it to my oven. But I betrayed the sauce packet and used Panda Express Orange Sauce instead because I like to live dangerously (and that sauce slaps). I also whipped up some chicken fried rice like the domestic ninja I occasionally pretend to be. But—plot twist—there wasn’t enough to feed the entire hungry horde. So, like the responsible adult I am, I pivoted to one of those chopped Caesar salad kits hiding in the fridge. Upgraded it, obviously. Added an avocado, real grated parmesan (because that powdered nonsense they include should be a crime), and called it a gourmet experience. I remembered to take a photo of the salad because I’m a food blogger in my own mind, but completely forgot to snap the orange chicken and rice—probably because I blacked out from hunger. So, what was on your plate tonight? Something classy? Something chaotic? Tell me everything.

I had a nuked potato, an apple, and fiber. Lots of water, too, because of my sinuses still dripping.

Are you fighting a bug and I missed the post about it?

Everything you mentioned sounds fantastic to me. Right up my alley as well as the taco bake thingamajigger. I use Innovasian as well, although I don't mind their sauce packet. I have my own recipe as well, but it takes so gosh darn long to make and put together, and I just don't want to mess with it. Plus, I get the Innovasian for under $6, so... For dinner I made chicken thighs on the grill and made a foil pack with zucchini, onions, butter and some seasonings. Yummy stuff. Good eats, even.

I didn't use the InnovAsian sauce, the kids are picky and so I just used the sauce I knew they would eat. I want to try their dumplings and pot stickers. Have you tried them?
