I am not saying all Indian husbands are dominating but my maid's husband is He does not respect her and screams at her at the drop of a hat He does not think her job is important. She is a good housewife and takes good care of their adopted child. I find her efficient with her work. She puts up with all his nonsense as she too thinks her husband is the boss. I wish I could just bash him up one day

What a sad situation, she surely grew up in a family who taught her that the man is the boss in a house.

@allknowing When my great grandmother was a young woman, also in Italy women considered the husband as a Boss.

That’s a really painful situation—for her, and for you watching it unfold. She clearly works hard, both at home and in her job, and it’s sad to see that go unrecognized. It’s tough when someone puts up with mistreatment because they believe it’s just how things are supposed to be. And while it’s easy to feel angry at him, it also makes you wish both of them could see the value of mutual respect and partnership. You care, that’s clear—and maybe just being there, offering quiet support, might help her feel seen until she finds the strength to expect more for herself.

This is all what I can do - throw hints that she should not tolerate but does not seem to work

This is a sad reality in the Indian society. Many women suffer silently.

@allknowing You won't change her now. Some women actually like being subservient. Even if they complain about it.
