What's for din? July 29th, 2025

I’m sure everyone will be absolutely stunned to hear that I am, once again, eating a salad. I know—hold your applause. To be fair, my other dinner option was chili cheese tots, but that required actual effort and possibly dirtying more than one pan. At 9 PM, that felt like a personal attack. So, I raided the fridge and built a franken-salad out of whatever wasn’t actively trying to crawl away. The base was shredded lettuce (a.k.a. crunchy water), topped with some shaved parmesan, a couple heroic scoops of pico de gallo, a drizzle of ranch, and—because I live life on the edge—two fish fillets. It’s basically a Caesar salad if Caesar had been a tired millennial who gave up halfway through cooking. But hey, it was edible, and I am now 87% sure I’ll survive until breakfast. That was dinner here. What questionable culinary choices did you make tonight?

Ordered pizza. Quick and easy. I got paid and it's trivia night.

@thislittlepennyearns I get that. I'm sure there's a lot to be spent on clothes, supplies, lunches, etc.

I won't argue against fish with a salad. That's actually pretty good, and I can't say I have never done that. And let's face it, salads are just good anyway and you can pretty much put anything you want in one. As for our dinner, it was spaghetti and meatballs with poor man's garlic bread on the side.

@porwest She child doesn't like it. But half the time I think she's just being difficult to be difficult.

Last night while I was making the salad, the kids were in the other room and I had a piece of garlic bread and the two fish fillets in the air fryer. And from three rooms away Chris' cousins 9 year old comes running in and does a baseball slide into the kitchen screaming "garlic bread". So she ate my first piece of garlic bread. She was very excited about it. Further proof that everyone loves garlic bread. lol There's leftover spaghetti in the fridge from the other night. Come finish it off.

@thislittlepennyearns Garlic bread is just good eats. Come to think of it, I don't even think I know of anyone who doesn't like it. I am sure there's someone out there. As for spaghetti leftovers, we never have trouble getting through it. I will admit it does last for a few days and by the time it's done, you don't want it again for a while. lol
