A Sunday Morning Curveball

So in my morning post I said that we all went up and saw dad on Sunday morning. It was a great visit and it has been that way for a while now. Literally he could get released any day now.
Mom threw a curve ball though.
She said that she was thinking about assisted living. Moving into an apartment or community with assistance.
Mom had never mentioned it to us and she knows where we are financially right now. We have a freaking lawsuit on us right now due to one of the credit cards.
My husband and I talked it over though and if we can get everything back on track we could take over the mortgage.
My mom seems to forget that we did live on our own for a while in Maryland. We did pretty good at my old house. No utilities got turned off and we had food.
We just need to get passed this whole debt thing.
So now I'm researching assisted living apartments.
Dad's not even sure if it's what he really wants but he thinks he may need it. I fall on the line of whatever he wants.
If he doesn't want to do this, I will stop this idea and he knows I can. If he wants it I'll do all the research that I can to help them out.
I've been rearranging and planning out that house for years anyway and he knows it. Nothin major but I mean let's face it, about 60% of the house if mine right now anyway lol.
The closest one I've found is Murfreesboro and it's a bit of a distance.
I think the distance worries everyone. It would be one of the weirdest things ever.
What do you think about these assisted living communities?

Everyone keeps saying I should move into one; but I want to stay in the house as long as possible. It could be a good thing for your parents. Do they make meals there for the residents? That's a big plus.

@JordanLader For me, the meals would be a Godsend. I get tired of sandwiches and frozen dinners. I do get Meals on Wheels for lunch Monday through Friday; but it's not enough.

@LindaOHio The meals would be great for my grandmother if she goes too. She can cook but she doesn't anymore

The one I found does or they can or they can go to the restaurant. Like it's well worth the money you spend really.
I think it would be good for both of them but in the end it's their call.

We have an assisted living community right up the block from us. My daughter is a friend to one of the tenants there. It seems to be a nice place. The people are happy. I hope you are able to find a good place get all the financial stuff taken care of.

That's what it's going to come down to. Financials and distance. Hopefully we'll get it figured out.
