Smith County Rescue Squad rescue a small calf that fell into a sinkhole

Thanks to the efforts of Smith County Rescue Squad (SCRS) members Tim Manning and his lead rope instructor Chris Dallas answered an emergency call on Tuesday afternoon from a farm on Kenny's Bend Road.
The two team members used a method to enter a sinkhole that was over 20 feet to rescue a calf that is five weeks of age by placing a harness to use a rope to get the calf out of the sinkhole to safety.
The calf was inside the sinkhole for a period of over 24 hours. Other than the calf being hungry, the calf is in good health.

The calf most likely fell into the sinkhole walking in the dark in the farm.

20 feet is a deep hole, and it was lucky that the calf did not break a leg there. That is a dangerous place to be, and it was good that it was rescued, before the sinkhole collapsed in on the calf.
