Tonight’s gourmet feast consisted of applewood smoked bacon pork loin, mac and cheese, and Hawaiian rolls. Please, hold your applause. The real miracle here is that I actually ate what I cooked instead of defaulting to my usual “sad adult” salad.
Now, full disclosure: the mac and cheese was premade. All I did was heat it up. But I’m counting the toasting of the Hawaiian rolls as “culinary effort,” because clearly I am basically a chef now.
For my fellow number nerds (looking at you, @porwest), here’s the thrilling financial breakdown:
Applewood Bacon Pork Loin: 1.58 lbs – $5.41
Bob Evans Mac & Cheese: 28 oz – $4.98
Walmart Brand Hawaiian Rolls: 12 count – $3.24
Grand total: $13.63 to feed four humans— because She-Child turned her nose up at my masterpiece. That works out to about $3.40 per person, which is practically a Michelin-star deal if you squint hard enough.
So that was dinner in my house tonight. What did you have? And, more importantly… are you brave enough to calculate the cost of your meal?

I love applewood bacon or ham. They tastes so good.
It is so cheap to feed everyone with just $3.40 per person. My dinner last night was a harsh $37 because I purchase Mcdonald as my wife wanted the food cooler bag from Mcdonald. We up-size our meals to have roast sesame shaker fries and me have an add on for the milo.

It's probably no secret I calculate the cost of most meals. It's a thing, and you have to be a "numbers nerd," which you have fully acknowledged you know I am. lol.
Okay, let's take the pork loin. I am assuming this is a factory marinated one. The $5.41 is good. I won't spoil that price even though I trypically get them on sale for $5 each. In fact, I just bought three at Schnuck's on Thursday for $4.99 each, Hatfield brand, at 22 ounces each.
The Bob Evans mac and cheese would never go in my cart. I use boxed (I know, you think that's nasty), and I use Smart Way at 49 cents a box.
The Walmart Hawaiian rolls are a good deal. All in all I will call this a winning meal at a winning price. Can I say "Porwest approved?" Or would that be corny, or otherwise pompous? lol

@thislittlepennyearns Now I want to know the brand of that pork loin. The national popular one is from Smithfield. The $3.49 makes it an even better deal. I will talk to my investment group about marketing a shirt, although no one outside of myLot will probably know anything about Porwest. lol
One day I should share the story behind that name if I haven't already.
