Deciding to get a new one

My current one has been running smoothly for a while now—it’s stable, healthy, and honestly doing just fine. But I’ve been feeling this itch to start fresh, to challenge myself a bit. There’s something exciting about setting up a new tank from scratch—designing the layout, cycling it, picking new plants or fish—it’s like a blank canvas.
That said, I only want to have one tank, so I’m still figuring out what to do with my current setup. Do I rehome the fish? Transfer some of the old to the new? Still thinking it through, but I’m leaning toward the change. Sometimes, a fresh start is just what you need to reignite the passion.

@allknowing The glass at the back of the tank is quite messy, although it doesn't show in the picture. I placed a cover on it, but there are already stains, making it less appealing to look at. Fortunately, I managed to hide it by heavily planting my tank, which keeps the back part of the glass concealed.

If you start fresh, what will you do with the old set-up?

@rsa101 I've always used an over the top filter for my tanks. Let us know what you decide.

It shouldn't weigh you down.
I would find a way to keep existing set up and a new one

Good luck with your new project. That’s such a relatable feeling. Sometimes the process of starting fresh is just as rewarding as the tank itself.
The planning, the creativity, the anticipation; it really can reignite that spark. If your current setup is doing well, maybe you could slowly transition, transferring select elements or favorite fish to keep some continuity while still enjoying a new beginning.
A new layout with fresh plants or aquascaping ideas could be a fun challenge and a nice change of pace. Keep us posted on what you decide. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
