Well, howdy! It was a fun day, meeting Amber and having lunch with her. What a blessing!!! It’s back to the Mother Road today, and maybe I’ll get out of Oklahoma. No promises, no plans (don’t have to be home until next Friday). As we venture along a real road, here’s the next song on the musical road.
Oklahoma - The Call
NOT the song from the play. This one is about a different kind of wind whipping down the plain…a tornado. Michael Been, the energetic front man for The Call, was from Oklahoma City, so he knew all about tornadoes.
I love this band. They were so underrated it’s pitiful. The good thing is that, in the wild and open days of the 80s with MTV and college rock radio, they DID get exposure, enough to establish a good cult following. I got to see them twice, and they were amazing.
Michael Been died of a heart attack in Belgium at the age of 60. He was running sound for his son’s band at the time. His son, Robert Levon Been, plays bass and sings with remarkable similarity to his father in tribute and reunion shows The Call perform.

Most people don’t know this band. A pity in my books. Hope you’re recovering from yesterday.

Just now
This one must have flown under my radar. Not familiar with it.

I expected that people might be shocked if they thought this was from the musical.
