Why Can't People Understand That They Can't Spend More Than They Make?

It's a very basic concept. You can't spend more than you have.
Your outgoing monthly expenditures can't exceed your incoming monthly revenue received.
It's just that simple.
Set aside any thoughts of Saving or Investing Money (which you shouldn't set these ideas aside, Saving should be done BEFORE spending) but setting those concepts aside for minute, you can't spend what you don't have.
I'm analyzing someone's recent expenditures and they appear to be spending $500/month more than they make. They've been doing this for several years, depleting their already-meager Savings account.
But what's worse is what they're spending it on. It's not food and medication, let me tell you that. It appears to be clothes and home decor items.
I would say I'm not being judgmental, but I guess I really am being judgmental. These are the same people who cry about not having enough money, but the truth and reality is that there's no such thing as enough money for them because they don't know their limits. They're never happy.
And these aren't kids who haven't been taught basic financial literacy. They're grown-ass adults who should know better.
I just don't get it.

I got rid of credit cards when I realized I was having trouble paying them off. Now, we save up for anything we want to buy. I have one debit card and a checkbook.

@looeyville Is there room for me on your judgement seat?!! As we have discussed before, financial management needs to be taught in school from an early age. It can actually become an exciting hobby! Setting financial goals really gets me going and it’s a great feeling when you start to reach those goals.

I guess some of us just have to learn the hard way to purchase our needs first and not our wants.
