Learning Something New Will Keep You Young

Why grow old just to sit around the house all day doing nothing or watching tv or watching the grass grow?
Why not use a language app, take a pottery class, go line dancing, or learn how to use new computer technology?
Why not choose one new interest or skill at the beginning of each year (birdwatching, pickling, whatever) and practice it for 10-20 minutes at a time several times and end up learning a new skill or hobby or interest?
You're never too old and it's never too late to learn something new.

I always try to learn something new. But it's usually something trivial. Hice, muy temprano, aprender un poco de español, y lo practico todo el tiempo, lo que a veces vuelve loca a mi esposa porque no tiene idea de lo que estoy diciendo. Pero ayuda a mantenerme fresco.

Yes sir. The very first thing my husband wanted me to learn in Spanish was "My husband is handsome" (I actually typed that in Spanish, but the myLot site translated it into English)

@LooeyVille Guapo would be the word I'd be familiar with for that. I learned Spanish PRIMARILY because I had Mexicans working for me when I worked at Coke, and I kept saying, "Do this this way," in English, and they'd smile and give me a thumbs up, and then screw things up. I finally figured out they weren't understanding me, so I decided to learn their language. "Desacelera, Francisco. Si arreglas todos estos pallets para el miércoles, no tengo ninguna razón para mantenerte durante 40 horas hasta el viernes."
Suddenly I got "Si," with an understanding.

@looeyville I find that retirement is enjoyable only if there’s something to do that stretches me. I always have a French novel on the go and do a lot of walking.

That’s why I’m here! (“Here” being along Route 66, discovering new things.)
