How do you handle a coworker who takes advantage of your kindness?

Hi Mylot friends, I'm just gonna air some steam about my annoying coworker. I'm feeling stressed about a coworker, a lawyer, who's consistently taking advantage of my kindness. He's asking me to handle his work because he is busy attending to his personal matters, which isn't part of my job. I've noticed he's also consistently delegating his tasks to me when he's busy with his clients. (our office allows him to do notarial job as his side hustle while he is working in our office) I This is affecting my productivity because I'm taking on his tasks in addition to my own. It's unfair that he's getting paid for work he's not doing while also profiting from his clients. I'm not trying to be negative, but it's just exhausting

Are you able to schedule his tasks after you finish your own work? If his aren't done by the end of your work day, then that's his problem. Or, you can tell your boss you can't handle his work and yours in the allotted time.

No, he'll just go to my cubicle then asked me to do this, to do that, even if our boss is watching. well i believe he thought that i will not complain since im new. but some of our workmates could see him asking me to do his job and they are very angry. they are advising me to report it to our boss.

@Soobinah That's what you should do, then. And refuse to do his work.

I work for myself, so this is not a problem.

I wish i could do that too. I also started a business way back 2021 but due to busy schedules, my business did not do well. I've been busy with so many things that time. I'm also a student that time so i cant focus on my business. But in the future I do hope i could open again my own business.

Your work should come first.
