Atlest once a year this snack is made using turmeric leaves Turmerica leaves have a strong pleasant aroma Boiled rice is soaked overnight and ground to a paste adding a bit of salt It is then thinly applied on the turmeric leaves and filled with a mixture of coconut and jaggery. The leaves are folded for the mixrture to stay They are then steamed.

I have never seen turmeric leaves, but rice and coconut wrapped in banana leaves and steamed is good.

We never use banana leaves.

@allknowing I also do not, but in the Caribbeans they do. It's there that I had the rice steamed in banana leaves.

@LadyDuck It is difficult to fold banana leaves - they split.

I have never seen the tumeric leaves but l usually buy the tumeric in the market.

I am sure they will grow in your garden. You can buy the rhizomes to begin with
