Middle of December last year my nose get clogged even if I have no colds. Then it really bothers me since I can't breathe well and can't taste food.
Around February we go to a specialist. She gave me prescription for nasal wash, steroid drugs and antibiotics and they are really expensive. First week no sign of improvement, I even have a cough for 2 days. Then we went back to say no improvement. Then she gave me a second round of antibiotics and steroid drugs. And she told me if I don't get better next time we come back we should have CT scan of my nose.
One week it got better but when no more drugs the clogged nose came back. We just ignore it and I just pray for it.
By April, I remember the doctor said that steroids can reduce swelling. So I type in Google, OTC NASAL STEROID and it list different generic names of drugs..
I ask my churchmate who is a pharmacist if they have any of this drugs. She said no but she said she has one of it in house used by her daughter. She gave it to me and it works fast. I ask my father to buy me a bottle and now I'm okay, no more clogged nose.
Why are doctors like that? Do they want me to come back again and again. With just a few spray of the medicine I get well.

They do, more of a bill. I learned sure preventive Maintenance is helpful but they charge for you helping them here in the US. Thailand has universal healthcare. You guys don't? It works ask the rest of the world besides US.

Yes, they like their customers to back to them so that they may get the fees from them. My sister in law also has the same problem. Doctor has asked her to take steroids and antibiotics. Now she feels better. Doctor has now asked her to stop taking steroids but continue the medications till one month. Let's see what happens.

That sounds like such a frustrating and exhausting experience—you went through months of discomfort, expensive medicines, and repeated visits, only to finally find relief with a simple nasal steroid spray. It’s understandable to feel upset and question why it wasn’t suggested earlier, especially when the right treatment worked so quickly for you.
Sometimes doctors follow step-by-step treatment protocols: they try antibiotics and oral steroids first, especially if they suspect infection or severe inflammation, before moving on to other options. It doesn’t always mean they want you to keep coming back, but it can feel that way when you’re not getting better. What’s important now is that you’ve found something that works and helps you breathe again. Maybe just keep monitoring your symptoms and, if needed, get a second opinion so you’ll have peace of mind moving forward.

Mine often has me try other stuff before going with prescription or tests. I am glad of that
