Not eaten hot_dogs in years. We do not even get the bread that we could perhaps bring home and make our own hot_dogs I remember eating them that had butter with mustard paste. a celery leaf and a sausage inside That was tasty and that is how I remember it What I do not know is why they are called hot_dogs. Do you? Image credit:

There are various stories told about how the hot dog became known as a hot dog but none of the stories can be verified, so nobody really knows. I won't eat the "meat" called hot dogs in the US. I will eat Polish sausages in a bun with ketchup and sweet pickle relish on them, though. (I need to add those to the shopping list for Tuesday when Pretty goes grocery shopping again. We haven't eaten hot dogs in several months.) Edit to add: Young adults and kids now call hot dogs a "glizzy" or "glizzies" because of a popular rap song.

I likek that butter and mustard paste combination. These days I do not eat meat nor fish. I will have to look for the bread and make my own may be with scrambled egg How big are the sausages and how big are the buns?

@allknowing That depends on the brand you buy. Common hot dog buns are about 6 inches long and the Polish sausages we buy fit perfectly in those buns. There are also buns that are a 12 inches long with hot dogs to match them... They're typically called "foot longs". Sometimes I buy the hot dog buns and make sloppy joe meat and use it in the buns. It works really well.

@DaddyEvil When you said buns I thought you were referring to those round buns and those are the only ones we refer to as buns

I have no idea at all. There must be stories behind it, mustn't there?

Good to see you I want to know if there is any basis behind it
