20.08.2025: Wild Passion Fruit doing pretty well

Among the passion fruit varieties I am farming, there is a wild one which is getting on well. It is mostly pest resistant, not too demanding on fertilizer or weeding. They do well if planted next to a tree. They climb and cover most of the tree’s crown. A single plant can bear as many as 500 fruits per season. The main difference between the wild variety and the common farming varieties is that they can last up to 5 years yet the common farm varieties only last up to 2 seasons (1 year). Again the wild passion varieties have a more sour taste compared to the domesticated ones. Most juice makers here in prefer the wild passion fruits since they need less fruits to make a lot of juice compared to the quantity of common farm passion fruits. The quality of juice and nutritional value for both wild and domestic passion fruits is entirely the same!

Interesting information. I've never tried a passion fruit. We just had our first dragon fruit the other day. It was pleasant.
