Well, my iphone 14 pro is toast (kind of)

A few months ago, I droped my Iphone 14 pro on the floor and it shattered the back glass. I had to use it, broken, for a couple of months until I could upgrade. Last month, I did. And, now last night, face ID, died. I've kept it as a backup phone because some of the games I play to make money are on it, but eventually it'll become e-waste. Oh well. At least I have a fuctioning future-proofed phone.

That was a costly drop. What can you do, though? Glad you have a working backup.

Yeah. I had to weigh the pros and cons of replacing my phone. Sure I could've had it sent to Apple to repair it, but then I'd be without a phone for weeks. And, pay almost as much as I paid for it , to have it repaired, or replace the phone, and have a working phone. So I chose the later.

@kaylachan Sometimes it's a toss up, for sure.

@porwest Yeah. And, if I thought I could, I would've probably gone with the cheaper option. But, I didn't have that luxary.

It's sad that we have to pay so much for these phones and they don't last more than 3 or 4 years at the most. Pityful.

Yeah, I know. It would've been fine, I guess, if I hadn't dropped it on the tile floor. And even after I tried to make it work, but phones bypically don't like cases. So here we are.

@kaylachan Right. I have been down a couple of days this month with keyboard issues here. My coffee somehow got knocked over and spilled into the keyboard. It worked for several hours and I thought "whew, we made it." Nope!! It quit working all of a sudden.

@kareng Well, I know what you mean. I’ve burned through a few keyboards myself. Screen readers ten to burn through keyboards a lot faster because they require a lot more keystrokes. But, that reminded me of a time when one of our cats knocked over a bottle of rubbing al my dad got for me, and I was accused of spilling soda on it, when I had it sent for repair. Like… really?

It is always sad and frustrating when some device you are used to becomes useless,

Yeah, I know. Right? And the reality is, I need a phone.

I'm glad you have that positive attitude, you are absolutely right in what you say, everything that is new today will be obsolete tomorrow and it is even already happening now where iPhones change once or twice Configurations and immediately a new model comes onto the market and as always we are human beings full of expectations And we do everything we can to acquire it without realizing that it is a more updated copy than its previous version in order to sell it for a higher price.
