The deals I scored today weren’t nearly as jaw-droppingly amazing as the ones I bragged about earlier, but hey — a deal is a deal. Plus, I got a little bonus from one of my freelance clients today, and after the year and a half we’ve had, topped off with the actually good news at the doctor this morning, I figured, “Why not spend a few bucks on me?” (I’m basically allergic to spending money on myself, so this was a big day.)
Anyway, the grand post-sale total: $10.46. Yep, that’s with taxes and shipping. Shipping was free if I spent at least $10, which is exactly the kind of manipulation I happily fall for.
Here’s the tiny-but-mighty haul:
Cute Socks, 5-Pack: I’m a sucker for socks with characters, fruit, or general silliness on them. They’ve gotten ridiculously expensive lately — like, why are we charging boutique prices for feet warmers? So when I saw these adorable little guys on sale, I snatched them like they were the last fries at the bottom of the bag. Paid: $2.30. Normal price: $10.99. Savings: $8.69. My toes will now be cozy and stylish, for 80% off.
Two-Pack Roku Remotes: Our bedroom TV remotes were one broken button away from becoming fancy paperweights. Chris’s only half-works, and mine has been auditioning for the role of “possessed electronics” lately. We needed new ones — specifically with volume control, because who wants to juggle a remote and a separate volume button like it’s 2006? Found two for $4.64. Normal price: $14.05. Savings: $9.41. Modern convenience, on clearance.
Smell-Proof Bag (For Chris): He’s been wanting a smaller one for his rolling tray. The current one is basically a duffel bag — overkill for its contents. Found a simple, gray, pocket-sized, sealable, water-resistant one for $5.04. This one wasn’t on sale, but with the money I saved on everything else, I figure one full-price item is acceptable. (I’m a bargain hunter, not a saint.)
So, if I’d paid full price, the haul would’ve been $30.08. I paid $10.46. Meaning I saved $19.62 — and even when I “splurge,” I still act like I’m on an episode of Extreme Couponing: Freelance Edition.
That’s today’s treasure hunt. I probably won’t do another order until next month — bills are about to hit, meds are due next week, and insurance continues to play its favorite game: “How Much Can We Not Cover?”
Now I’m curious: do you like hunting deals online, or do you prefer the in-person thrill of the clearance rack?

Good for you. Those socks look really cute. I rarely go shopping for anything other than to the supermarket.

Usually I will buy off site for the things I need and for those things online, unless I need them to deliver the grocery, I will only buy those I like which may or may not have much use. Meaning that unless it is grocery, half of my online shopping items are money wasting wants.
