After a time of traveling there’s only one place you want to be. I’m closing out the month celebrating my vacation in musical style with a salute to the best place to see after a trip. And, despite 40,000 different songs with this same title, there really is only one choice for me. Home - Jim Reeves Linda? Jim? NO!! Don’t let the nice clothes fool you. This was written by Roger Miller. He didn’t record it until 1966, and by that time I accepted NO substitutes for a Jim Reeves recording. Of course I’m going with that marvelous voice of Gentleman Jim’s any time. Just to bore the daylights out of you, the man introducing Reeves in the video is Thomas Clinton “T. Tommy” Cutrer. He was an Opry announcer for many years. You might not know it looking at him in the video, but he had a prosthetic leg, having lost his left leg in a car wreck in 1952. But the star of the show is Jim Reeves and that magnificent voice of his. And home. Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like it! Thanks for reading. The first thing I noticed was the nice clothes. I can understand that this is the only version for you. And I know about the water too. We had rainwater in Donnybrook and the water here just doesn't compare.

@FourWalls I can't remember the 'work clothes' my farmer father and brother wore but I don't think jeans were around at that time. Dad was born in 1914 and my brother in 1938.

It is nice to talk about the old days, as if everything is coming back to life even though the photos was in black and white - as you talk about it, my mind gives color to the photos.

@FourWalls Secretly A Marine. Most love the musicians with a bass guitar but if you have bass in your voice. Happy 250th miss lady, Only Marines have true bass in their voice.

@FourWalls I can't argue with that, but if I ever saw you miss lady, Most respectful, My Lady. Some of us were not meant to be good people let alone serve the great nation of this country. Marines do get points for that. Pretty neat if you ask me.

That’s one problem: for 250 years we’ve been giving y’all a lift, and you NEVER tipped us.
