We were just driving home and let a car turn in front of us and the driver didn’t give us the requisite thank you wave That’s been happening a lot lately Don’t people appreciate the courtesy of other drivers anymore?

People don't have manners at all anymore. I was saying the same thing about a driver the other day to my husband. I think manners, and respect have gone out the window recently. It's a shame.

Sadly it's that way with everything. Kids aren't even reminded to say "thank you" when someone helps them or gives them something. Truly sad.

Many years ago (because it’s been many years since I’ve been to a concert) I was talking to Robbie Fulks after a show and said, “If you want to blow the mind of the Subway worker, just say, ‘Yes, sir, please, may I have…’” He laughed, then said, “But don’t you think it’s incumbent on them to say that to us as part of the privilege of being older?” My reply: “Robbie, we were the last generation taught to say ‘please,’ ‘thank you,’ and ‘yes, sir.’ If WE don’t say it, it’ll become extinct.” The next night he referenced the conversation during the concert…then added, “I thought about it and realized she’d had a conversation with the man who wrote ‘F*** This Town’ about how manners are disappearing from the lexicon.” I personally let people out in traffic because it’s the right thing to do, not for the acknowledgment. What’s the saying, integrity is what you do when no one is watching.

People everywhere, in every situation, are becoming less "aware" of kindness or other people living in the world with them. I won't change my behavior to suit theirs, and will continue to give thanks where thanks is due.

Not getting the thank you wave doesn’t really bother me, although I make darn sure I give the wave. And even when it’s real life, I don’t linger too much over it. The only time I actually got a little miffed when I didn’t get a thank you was when a lady in the grocery store grabbed my arm when I was also shopping, and asked me to get something from the top shelf for her (she was about five feet). I got it, handed it to her, and she just walked off with no thank you. That one lingered with me. She was definitely of an age you’d think she’d do better.

Sorry about that, but there are still drivers who say thank you today.

@looeyville With some flustered drivers I just want them to focus and keep their hands on the wheel. Any time a thank you isn’t forthcoming when it ought I bellow after the offender “you’re welcome”.

I have noticed the same over the last few years ….we always say thank you and look to see if the other drivers do too. Sadly fewer and fewer people do acknowledge the manners of other drivers.

Many people appreciate and many more don't.They just smile friendly and leave. However a man thanked me multiple times when I saved his child from a stray dog.
