Public speaking is the third biggest fear behind death. Joining Toastmasters helps people to develop their public speaking skills and overcome their fear of public speaking. Are you afraid of public speaking? I was a Communications major who was so afraid of public speaking. I have been in Toastmasters for 22 years. Toastmasters has changed my life. I am active in three clubs. I am currently president of my home club. Toastmasters is an excellent worldwide organization that I would definitely recommend to anyone.

I have thought about joining Toastmasters. I am a poet. University days, I felt like vomiting when it was suggested that I read my work in front of others. Years later I attended a 12 step group. That group sat silent and attentive when I spoke, no matter what weepy story came out. That group boosted my self esteem so that I was able to read my work in front of others. I still get trembly but I can get up in front of people without a panic attack.

I am a college teacher, so I have been speaking in front of people for years. I used to have stage fright. My strategy? Keep it light and pretend I am talking to my friends.

@TheHorse I'd love to take your class if auditing online was an option.

I took a Speech class in high school which helped. I think I would be more confident today.
