Hello there,
As I recall the only time we protested and then looted a government palace was the first Edsa Revolution. That was the time when Marcos, Sr. left the country for hawaii and the people stormed Malacañang Palace. The most iconic was some one drag a portrait of the Marcos family out.
Later Edsa protest did not involve Palace looting, just protest in the streets. The last President that was ousted was Erap Estrada. But the second one was meant for Gloria Arroyo, but it didn't work.
Hope we have learned from our past mistakes. We can hope to call out these corrupt government officials and contractors with out resulting to violence and looting their homes.
And we are not the most "stupid most people on earth" Public servants should serve, not flaunt and steal.

I remember the last revolution in the Philippines. I was younger when that happened. I keep wondering if the US will go through something like that with our present corrupt government officials or if a new election is coming that will change everything for us.

I doubt that would eventually happen in your country. However, I’ve noticed the way politics is regressing there. It’s evolving too, just like in every other country. Pulling off a revolution like we did would require immense courage from the citizens to take to the streets, challenge the government in question, and ultimately remove them from power. We had two or three attempts at doing that, but none quite matched the success of the first people power revolution. Politicians have since adapted, finding ways to ensure such movements don’t occur again during their terms.

@rsa101 Revolution has happened here before. I guess we'll find out what will happen when a government is corrupt...

The first revolution was iconic and unparalleled in the world. It marked a peaceful transition of power, ousting a strongman without firing a single bullet. Although there were sporadic riots, normalcy was restored within days, and the government transitioned from a dictatorial regime to a fully democratic system. However, as time evolves, so do the political landscape and the players within it. Gradually, the country is regressing to its earlier state, as politics has evolved, and the very politicians once despised have returned to power. Ironically, leadership is now in the hands of the former dictator's son, a striking twist of history.
