With or without mushy peas?

We ate at the Leap Inn again tonight and I got confused. The waitress told me that on the menu was fish and chips with mushy peas or I could have the fish and chips special. I asked what the special was, and it was fish and chips without mushy peas. Now I may not be the sharpest tool in the tool box but … oh why bother. I sought no further explanations and ordered the special.

@rasmasandra It was actually quite nice but I’m still pondering how having one item less renders the meal ‘special’.

I wonder if the waitresses/owners ever THINK about these things.

So what have you got against mushy peas ? I love mushy peas with fish and chips…but why is the special without the mushy peas ?

@traceyjayne I love mushy peas with vinegar, but the girl had me so confused I just blurted out “the special”.
