Happy Saturday morning from this side of the planet. It's again a cloudy morning. We had good sunny day yesterday after a long and now the clouds are back. It's cold again.. It's 7:20 as I write this. I just got up a while ago and did some quick cooking to pack for my younger daughter. And now I am back snuggled in bed. I might go for a short nap in some time. I wanted to go back to sleep after packing her lunch, but couldn't. So, I am here so early in the morning . We watched some late night movie as part of our Friday night ritual. I went to bed around 2 AM. It's a long weekend here. Yesterday, we had a holiday on Friday. It was two festivals, Eid celebrated by Muslims and Onam, a festival of state of Kerela. But now it's celebrated in other states of South India too because of people migrating to other neighboring state. Onam is a festival that's celebrated by people of all faith. There is beautiful story behind it and also a lovely meal associated with the festival with a traditional importance. I might make another post about the same. I just hope that I can. And the third celebration was Teacher's Day yesterday. We celebrate it on 5th September to honour the real architects of society, nation and the world. 5th September is the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapelli Radhakrishnan, who was an exemplary teacher , scholar and a great philosopher. His contribution to promote education in the society is unparalleled. We don't have holiday for Teacher's Day. This year it just coincided with the other two celebrations..Generally, we have some program in schools and colleges. Students bring so many beautiful and thoughtful cards and gifts for teachers. We have performances where they give a surprise to us showing their gratitude..they practice it on their own after school hours. Teacher's also express their gratitude and love for their students through performances. And that's a surprise for students. This year, the program happened on Thursday as we got holiday on Teacher's Day. It was a short and sweet program after lunch hours. Thursday was fun. There was a nice lunch hosted for teachers on Thursday. It was fun. I got beautiful cards made by the younger ones I work with. I am enjoying my long weekend. Will try to keep it slow and relaxed. Have a nice weekend.

Onam Sadya ( the elaborate meal) is a great tradition. And I was reading in one newspaper article that in some Sadya, there are 64 dishes. I interacted with two of my friends from Kerala yesterday. I was invited for Sadya. One is a Muslim and other is a Christian. I came to know of few facts about this Sadya. I would try to make a post about that.

That sounds a lovely ritual for teachers and students to give thanks and praise to each other.

@arunima25 Teachers have a tough life here I think. Once, parents would always back the teacher but now sometimes the teachers get blamed for everything.

Yes, it does. I wish that the country and the whole world would realise the contribution of teachers at each level and encourage good minds to choose this profession.
