Is It Really Any Good?

I have a real problem with some movies. Well, actually with many movies. I am a writer, and I am very curious. Nothing maddens me more (where movies are concerned) than a dumb movie. I am curious enough that I want to know what the writer (and director) ends up doing with it so I find myself napping through some movies just to see where they take them story-wise. The two genres that really bug me the most are horror and romantic comedies. What a lot of wasted film. Some of these movies are so dumb and so badly done that it's just a waste. Pints of blood and rubber guts don't make it for me. I hope that many see them on apps and don't pay good money to go see them in the theater. Look how much a person has to pay for a movie now days too. It can be anywhere from $11.50 to $16.00. And then add $3 to $7 for an IMAX movie. When my kids and I go to a movie we have to have popcorn and a drink. That makes for a price of about $54 at the least. The last time I went to a theater to see a film was probably 2011 when we went to see the first Thor movie. It's nice to see epic films on the big screen but my 43-inch television at home is okay by me. (Good sound adds to it) too. So, do people really enjoy blood and guts movie with little or no good storyline? Do they like romantic comedies that show both parties as spoiled, stupid, arrogant, self-absorbed, etc. For me, I'd rather see a good thriller than watch these genres I've just listed. I like to see intelligent women in awful situations showing how strong and smart they are. I do go a little dark with some of them but, hey, it's a movie. And don't even get me going on the fact that women never look up. Why? So, what are your thoughts on these two genres? See any value in them? Are they any good at all? Have you seen a good lately? To be honest there are a few good storylines but not many.

I know what you mean..I hate slasher movies..horrible. And yes badly done mostly. I can still go to the movies but I sure as heck ain't buying popcorn or sodas. Its crazy expensive like you say. I want to see that new Conjouring movie though.

I enjoyed When Harry Met Sally and You've Got Mail. I don't like horror. I like thrillers. Haven't watched any movies lately.
