Dino Bird

A rare "dinosaur" bird, considered one of the world's most dangerous, has hatched at a UK zoo. The cassowary, known for its powerful legs, sturdy feet, and razor-sharp talons, was born in Devon. Unfortunately, this species is known as one of the planet’s most dangerous birds. Cassowaries are indigenous to Australia and New Guinea; the ground-dwelling bird bears a resemblance to a dinosaur. For the first time since 2004, a new chick has emerged at Paignton Zoo in Devon, England, and is the first across Europe this year. The father, whose name is Madrid, is taking on all the important newborn duties. Don’t you just love the dad’s name?

@RasmaSandra Think of the drumsticks you'd get from one of those, though!

That’s so cool! I’m not getting near any bird’s legs. I’ll keep mine to myself if they keep theirs to themselves.

We've seen a lot of cassowaries, mostly in national parks, but saw a few in the wild

It is difficult to look at a little bird and think of it as dangerous. But I can see that the beak is sharp looking and his legs and feet look well developed and I am sure that he is a good runner.

Thank God only one chick is born. I wouldn't like such birds to multiply.

@aninditasen they don't want them to die out so they are trying to increase their numbers
