Is the 8 hour sleep a night a fantasy?

I can bet more than 90% of the people in the world have 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night. Sleep is quite important for the body to recover from daily stress , but it appears every few hours of sleep can help in most ways. Do you get 8 hours of sleep everyday?

I often get less than 8 hours, and on average I sleep only 4 hours.

Eight hours straight does feel like a bit of a fantasy for many people. Life, stress, health issues or even just habits can make it hard to get that much uninterrupted sleep. I rarely manage a full 8 hours, but I do find that even shorter stretches of good quality sleep make a difference. You are right, rest is so important for the body to recover. I think everyone has their own rhythm, but it is interesting to see how many actually manage the full 8.
